As many of you know, our good friend, Roger Roth, ANDRC Hall of Fame and Standards Committee member, passed away Wednesday, April 20. He had been in ill health for some time, but, nevertheless, his passing was a shock to his family and friends.
Roger had made it clear to his family that he wished no flowers be sent. His request was that those wanting to make donations do so for an ANDRC youth scholarship to be given in his name.
Roger was a life-long supporter of the youth of our club. He not only assisted many young people in getting a good start with quality, affordable Dwarfs, but he advised many as they progressed in their projects. He often said to me that he felt that his greatest joy in the Netherland Dwarf hobby was the rabbits and advice he had provided over the years to youth. He firmly believed that our hobby was kept strong by the efforts of those who give to others, whether it was of time, rabbits or knowledge. Roger is one of those of whom it will be said for a long time that they are gone but not forgotten.
Should you choose to make a donation, please make it payable to ANDRC, and make note in the memo section of the check that it is for Roger Roth Memorial Scholarship. I have asked Susan Smith to provide thank-you notes to those who wish to contribute, so that donations follow IRS rules on deductibility.
Our Scholarship Committee will be addressing the awarding of one or more scholarships next year in Roger’s name once the contributions are received.
